LAWYERS
KEN TATEUCHI
Ken Tateuchi is an associate at Matsuo & Kosugi where he specializes in the areas of intellectual property (both contentious and non-contentious matters), privacy law, space law and regulatory compliance. With a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Tokyo, Tateuchi combines more than a decade of scientific scholarship with meticulous legal training to provide pragmatic IP advice to clients on a range of matters. With regard to privacy law, Tateuchi is also able to assist clients with creating Japan compliant privacy policies, managing data-breaches and conducting data mapping.
In addition to the more conventional areas of law mentioned above, Tateuchi also has a strong practice focus on space law. Leveraging his years of experience in astronomy and physics related academia, Tateuchi can assist clients with navigating Japan’s space law regime. In addition to advising clients on space law, Tateuchi is also actively involved in the shaping of Japan’s space law regulations through his participation in the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Keio University research group which provides its research and verification on the topic.
Prior to joining Matsuo & Kosugi, Tateuchi completed a research fellowship at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science where he then went on to work in the system development division of a large Japanese railway company, which was then followed by stint as a data-scientist at a Japanese energy provider.
